The Blue Plate is simply an excellent restaurant and our top recommendation for 2002.  We enjoyed a meal at the Blue Plate in October 2002 and enjoyed it immensely.  The outer Mission style and service plus incredible food made our visit a pleasure. 

The waiter talked with us like a friend, sat with us, and really made us feel welcome.  I would say it was the best service I have received in the past five years.  The location is pretty sketchy - cabs are strongly recommended as there is little or no parking and absolutely no valet service.
