Gordon's House of Fine Eats

Highly Recommended but Gone...

Gordon's House of Fine Eats is sadly out of business.  We urge you to visit San Francisco Underground Travel's other recommended restaurants.

Potrero Hill is where the Internet money eats.  A rapidly gentrifying neighborhood as San Francisco's wealth pushes outward.  Now, the fine restaurants erupt and Gordon's is original, entertaining, and quite excellent.  The twist for Gordon's is simultaneously serving 5 different categories of food:

The food at Gordon's is incredible and the service is impeccable (and friendly too!)  Just a really cool, truly San Francisco 1999 spot that really knows its food.  The two floor design of the restaurant in a renovated warehouse (of   course!) is beautiful with wooden beamed ceilings, exposed pipes, and beautiful artwork.  Live music plays upstairs.

While waiting at a really cool long wooden bar, we experienced excellent service on a Saturday night.  The margaritas were made from freshly squeezed lime juice right before your eyes.

Our meal began a very fresh spring salad with a variety of fresh sprouts.  The freshness, originality of vegetables, presentation, and crunchiness was beyond compare.

We sampled the grilled ham steak with sweet potato pie.   The sweet potato pie was incredible-- like a true Southern U.S. pie made on a plantation.  The ham steak was good, but not the most exciting thing.  Served with mashed potatoes that were good, but not up to the Lulu standards for garlic flavor.

My companion had osso Bucco pork which was very tender.   The meat practically fell off the bone.  The pork was served with cooked greens.

Well, if you haven't figured it out yet, we loved this place and will be back.  It is just too cool...

VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (JULY 1999)

BUT UNFORTUNATELY OUT OF BUSINESS
