Nancy writes in Summer 2001, "As we turned into the cul de sac, I felt I was transported back in time, finding myself in a quiet, calm oasis in the middle of a bustling city.  The buildings were not new, of course, but this added to the charm and appeal that made our stay very tranquil.  Our room was not elaborately decorated, but modest and comfortable.

One of my favorite things about the stay was the fountain which was outside and near our window... the tinkling of the water was soothing, and I plan to someday have a fountain of my own, which will certainly remind me of our stay at Hill Point.

I cannot comment on the breakfast, as I am not a morning person (blush)...but I was pleased when I entered the office and was asked immediately by the nice young man attending, just how I liked it.  It was so pleasant, we hope I can come back for another visit very soon..."

R.H. complains in October 2000, "My wife and I have stayed here on four different occasions over the past two years, and each stay has gotten progressively less pleasant. Quality of food has declined, cleaning is uneven, staff is surly. Most recently we made reservations for four nights to attend our son's wedding, and recommended Hill Point to two other parties. When we arrived Hill Point had us down for the wrong nights and insisted it was our fault.  Hill Point is not run by the owner; it is mismanaged by unaccomodating people who frankly don't care whether their guests are taken care of or not; their jobs and their future customers are assured by their proximity to UCSF. I would never stay there again, and could never recommend it. There are too many other B&B hosts in SF who know what hospitality is. "

L.F. raves in April 1999, "Located just south of Golden Gate Park by the Park's west end and beside the UCSF Medical Centre, this place comprises two Victorian units which have been renovated into single rooms with shared baths, single rooms with private baths, and suites which have their own kitchenettes.  There is a coin laundry in the basement. 

I highly recommend the one bedroom suite which is a decent size one bedroom apartment, and the smaller one bedroom suite which is the size of a hotel room with a kitchenette.  The staff are friendly and available.  The prices are reasonable and includes a buffet breakfast.  As of April 1999, the smaller suite is $95 and the larger one is $150 for two people, or $125 for one person. 

Staying in a quiet, residential area away from downtown gives you much more value for your money.   There is a Muni station just one block south which takes you straight downtown along Market to the Embarcadero.  Also nearby are a bike rental shop (Avenue Cyclery), clean little food markets, a Safeway accross from Golden Gate Park, and small eateries catering to a student's budget.  I would definitely stay here again."
