Based on
heavy reader interest, our editors stayed at the Holiday Inn Fisherman’s
Wharf this Summer to personally review and enjoy the hotel. The
Holiday Inn Fisherman’s Wharf is located at 1300 Columbus in
the heart of Fisherman’s Wharf, and within reasonable walking
distance of North Beach and San Francisco’s "crookedest"
street (Lombard). The hotel is well oriented to the traveler looking
for convenience to Fisherman’s Wharf attractions including
Alcatraz, historic ships, and waterfront seafood dining. The hotel
is also close-by the cable-car turn-around to Union Square shopping,
and Ghiradelli Chocolate Company restored shopping mall.
Parking at the hotel is $39.90 per day (Winter 2007), but most parking is handled by an off-premises facility called the Anchorage garage. Be sure to get your Anchorage ticket validated by the Holiday Inn, as the Anchorage’s normal rates are considerably higher.
The hotel
is divided into two major sections which are approximately 2 blocks
apart. Before unloading your vehicle, make sure to check-in and
find out which of the two hotel blocks you are staying in to ease
unloading of your luggage. The Holiday Inn has four restaurants
including a Denny’s family-style restaurant, a Mrs. Fields’
Cookies, Bristol Gardens (upscale), and Java Express coffee + room
service.
