Opened
in 1914, this small hotel has 137 rooms and is located right on
Union Square
with the cable car picking up right outside the lobby.
Room rates include a complimentary health club at the hotel.
Parking is an additional $20-$25 per day. Quoted room rates
were approximately $125 before tax.
This is
a budget type hotel on the older side. We have had several
positive feedback on the hotel, and many inquiries sparked by their
low rate specials.

, "We have been at the Chancellor hotel for
three days and have enjoyed our stay very much. The staff has been
very helpful. The constant supply of coffee, tea, cookies,
and apples in the lobby is a treat. The location
is great. The room is not large, but very adequate. the
deep tub is a luxury and comes complete with a little yellow rubber
duckie. There is an ironing board and hair dryer in the room. We
would also recommend Uncle Vitos just up the street for pizza and
pasta and a Mediterranean deli down the street from Uncle Vito's
for inexpensive, enormous sandwiches. We would definitely
stay here again-- the price is great!

quite small but cozy and charming. The concierge was extremely
helpful with all our requests and price was right at $125 per night..."

, "I was referred to the Chancellor Hotel
by the staff at the Visitors Bureau. Their normal rate is
around $125/night. The front desk staff was extremely professional,
friendly and helpful! During my stay, when I had to have
my electronic keys reprogrammed a couple of times, they never exhibited
any frustration but were always very accommodating!
Daily, the coffee table situated next to the front desk was constantly
well-stocked with complimentary oatmeal cookies, flasks of Starbucks
coffee and different types of teabags! Those cookies certainly helped
me safe a lot on breakfast costs!
My room was very quiet, clean, cozy and warm!
It came with an alarm clock, a colour TV, a personal safe, iron
and ironing board, ceiling fan, umbrella, hairdryer and a phone
that provided me with unlimited usage for local phone calls (that
came in handy when I needed to make enquiries of various attractions).
The extra amenities included bathing salts and a very cute rubber
duck. An ice bucket was also provided. The ice machine was conveniently
located outside the elevator.
I definitely recommend the Chancellor Hotel to anyone who
are looking for a hotel to stay in San Francisco! I know
for certain that I will stay there again the next time I visit San
Francisco! "
