Can't be closer to a cable car in San Francisco hotels!

Villa Florence is located in the heart of Union Square, right on the cable car line, near a wealth of shopping and theater.  The location is smack in the middle of the shopping district.   G.H. writes ,  "We got a queen bed for $160 -- for a hotel on Powell, it was a great deal. The building is pretty and very convenient to just about anything. The room was a nice size and very comfortable, although it lacked a few amenities and the furniture was a little ragged around the edges. The touches were nice: thick towels, Starbucks coffee in the room, CD player/alarm clock. I'd strongly recommend it."

Travelers comment most often on the hotel's good value for the price, but some don't like the street noise - especially at night.  The hotel is right on the cable car line and some popular taverns.  The rooms are relatively spacious for the price.  Many note the helpfulness of the hotel's staff and special service for guests.    For a budget traveler - Villa Florence in San Francisco is a good choice to try.  It's extremely close to Union Square shopping, transit on BART around the Bay Area, and theater / restaurants.
